Measuring up and fitting
Before you order, check the size of your door and, if you are replacing an old letter box, measure the hole centre to hole centre distance on the back of the one you have. Compare it with the size of the opening you need, and mark the position on your door before you cut. Your letter box arrives with the correct number of fixing screws to install it.
Choosing your size and finish
Our cast iron letter boxes come in three sizes, 10 x 4 inch, 12 x 4 inch and 14 x 3 inch, in black or antique brass. You may also like the Embossed Letter Box 12″ x 4″ – Antique Brass Finish, the Fleur De Lis Letter Box 14″ x 3″ – Black Finish or the Embossed Letter Box 10″ x 4″ – Black Finish.
Caring for cast iron
Cast iron can rust if it is exposed to moisture or high humidity. Where the letter box may be exposed to damp, such as on an outside door, we recommend a suitable finish such as lacquer or varnish. Oiling will also give some protection.
Each letter box is hand cast, hand cleaned and finished, so they are very similar but not identical. Please unwrap your product from all protective packaging as soon as possible after delivery.
